Hi all and sorry for the delay in my blogs.. Time has gotten away and i am happy to report that after 2 session in Lorne i am still here. The first session was the course familiarization which i must say saw at least 30 minutes of me wanting to quit and not having a great time at all…. I did finish it though and the relief was good. Waves were fun although they did push me off the kayak on the way out – it’s the choppy part out past the pier where the fun stops for me. Others find this part more enjoyable but the loss of control and unknown swell certainly requires 100% concentration for me. It is very much out of my comfort zone but I kept going with the thought of raising money to help people who possibly spend a lot of their life feeling out of their comfort zone, so this brief period of time for me is a miniscule sacrifice.
I have continued doing 6 sessions a week of training, with one of these being on a kayak and the rest being fitness based, and am happy to say have been pretty good with my diet (thanks Emma Morris). I would however like a few more kayak sessions before the event in 16 days time. (Argh!!) Sadly our coach Jarad has been out of action this week due to an arthroscope (we wish him all the best in his recovery) but i am hoping to get some more sessions in next week. The fitness is fine but the skill level could do with some improvement.
With little time to go i ask that you drop in to a Stay Tuned clinic (see www.staytuned.com.au for locations) or visit http://www.onlinegiving.com.au/pages/PaulHermann1.aspx to assist in our fundraising efforts as that is what this event is really about for us.
Stay Tuned…
